Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church

The new sanctuary for Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal in Covington, Georgia features hammer beam trusses in the nave and transepts.

Holder Bros. worked closely with the project architect to create a truss design to achieve a specific desired visual impact. The hammer beam trusses were built with kiln dried southern yellow pine and support a common purlin roof pitched 14/12.

Other interesting features include large laminated arched braces, cypress ceiling decking, and hand-carved crosses on the hammer beam ends. The exterior entrance porches of the building will also be framed by Holder Bros.

The general contractor is Sunbelt Builders, Inc. of Covington, Georgia. http://www.sunbeltbuilders.com/
