Timber Framing, the quarterly journal of the Timber Framers Guild, recently published an article written by Whit Holder. The June 2008 issue featured "Snap Line Square Rule"--a carpenter’s perspective on a layout system that accounts for imperfect timber. The article is a step-by-step walkthrough of snap-line square rule and provides pros and cons of the system and recommendations for when it is applicable.
